What’s your “I really need a bath but the baby won’t let go of my legs” hack?

How are you able to shower when your toddler is glued to your legs?

I’ve found that it’s not a good idea to leave my two little friends together, alone, even for 5 minutes, as something unexpected and for me to clean (my house is fairly kid friendly and I will lock the doors of the more dangerous zones), will definitely happen.

I’ve developed some strategies along the years to be able to, very quickly, take a shower:

0-3 months – No shower for me! Just kidding, but not. We all know what’s like to shower whenever you can.

3-6 months – I would put their mat on the bathroom floor with some toys and some music.

6-9 months – When they already sat by themselves, I would get the treasure basket out and that would give me a little more time, as it is absolutely awesome.

9-12 – A basket filled with books.

From 1 year old – Realized how life was good before she couldn’t reach the top of the bathtub and throw toys inside (we didn’t have a bathtub when my eldest daughter was born, so I wasn’t aware of this reality!!).

I use different materials each time.1 This gets her involved for a few minutes, I will also talk with her if she requires so, but I tend to avoid it because once her attention turns to me, toys will find their way into the bathtub! I do recommend that you only provide materials you are ok with being wet!

  1. I will repeat during the week, but alternate between 2 or 3 different ones.
