Is your kid wearing a thermal suit? Are you insane?

This was what I said to my sister before my second child was born.

Back in 2019, when my eldest daughter was about one and we went to the beach, she would wear those +50 suits or t-shirts and I was pretty happy about it as I thought that I was doing the best choice for her. After all, children should be exposed to a variety of sensations, right?

Obviously, she wouldn’t be in the water for long before she started chattering her teeth and water play would be over.

Then, my second child was born, and I stuck to my principles. “No, I will not put her in a thermal suit, she needs to experience things”. Sometime after, we went to the beach. We where in the water for 10 minutes and my baby starts getting her lips purple.

It was impossible, of course, to get the older one out of the water, so the little one, obviously, didn’t want to get out as well.. I ended up carrying the baby in and out of the water the whole afternoon, so she didn’t freeze to death!

Next day, surprise, surprise… I went straight to a well know sports magazine and bought the freaking thermal suit! Best decision ever.

Ok, I still think that a variety of experiences is important, but things are not black and white. Tomorrow I will get a bucket of ice, and let her play with it!
